NCEMA and MoEI discuss joint cooperation Sunday, October 30, 2022 His Excellency Obaid Rashid Al Hassan Al Shamsi, Vice President of the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA), met with His Excellency Sherif Al Olama, Undersecretary of the Energy and Petroleum Sector in the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure (MoEI). The meeting was held with aims of supporting the objectives of the National Strategic Meeting for the Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Community, and strengthening relations and cooperation frameworks in this sector. The meeting, held in the headquarters of the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure in Dubai, discussed a number of topics of common interest related to the Emergency, Crises and Disasters Network, and the objectives of the National Strategic Meeting, which brings together all the federal agencies concerned with the field. His Excellency Obaid Rashid Al Hassan Al Shamsi, Vice President of NCEMA, previewed the strategic roadmap led by the authority, and the future work methodology to reduce the impact of potential risks and threats in terms of strengthening national capabilities and resources and raising readiness and preparedness to confront them with efficiency and flexibility. His Excellency Al Shamsi, noted in a statement, “The Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure is a key partner in the Emergency, Crisis, and Disaster Community. The ministry plays a pivotal role in the system in terms of enhancing capabilities and resources related to energy, infrastructure, and transportation and ensuring its continuity, especially in exceptional and unexpected circumstances.” For his part, His Excellency Engineer Sherif Al Olama praised the great role played by NCEMA in facing challenges, praising its distinguished efforts in addressing exceptional situations within the framework of its mission to enhance the security and stability of the UAE society, and the combined efforts of federal and local authorities, which added great impact on the country’s advancement globally in the efficiency of the Emergency, Crises and Disasters Network. His Excellency expressed MoEI’s pride in cooperating with NCEMA, and the effective communication that ensures mutual benefit between the two sides and the highest levels of performance efficiency, stressing that the ministry has a vision and clear action plans to manage emergencies and crises that may face the energy, infrastructure, and transport sectors, which in turn stem from the UAE strategies that are already set in place. The attendees agreed to form working teams specialized in foresight, forecasting, risk analysis and joint national planning, with the aim of raising the efficiency of national readiness to face possible challenges in the energy, infrastructure and transportation sector, and on the importance of strengthening communication and coordination among all partners in the emergency, crisis and disaster community to reach the unity of national effort to manage crises with all professionalism and high flexibility.
