UNDRR Director Visits NCEMA

His Excellency Ali Rashid Al Neyadi, Director General of the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA), received Ms. Paola Alberto, Director of the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction, with her accompanying delegation, at NCEMA headquarters in Abu Dhabi.

The Director General of NCEMA was joined by His Excellency Saif Juma Al Dhahri, Director of the National Operations Center, Ms. Mariam Yaed Al Qubaisi, Director of the Media and Communication Department, and Mr. Fahad Butti Al Muhairi Director of the Safety and Prevention Department, along with a number of representatives of the NCEMA.

During the meeting, discussions took place on a number of various crucial topics in relation to protecting lives and properties for the sake of reducing the many risks that face the world today.  The two parties stressed the importance of providing comprehensive updates from the UNDRR on its ongoing engagement with NCEMA, as well as informing NCEMA and UAE partners about the high-level briefings on the Early Warning for All (EW4ALL).

The two parties also discussed the importance of providing updates on the UNDRR’s contributions made to key COP28-related processes, which the UAE will host later this year. The UNDRR delegation has also graciously invited NCEMA during the meeting to the Global Resilience Forum which will take place in Dubai from 5th to 6th of October. 

Ms. Paula Alberto noted during the meeting the UAE’s achievements in the Sendai framework file and the mid-term report and praised the UAE as one of the leading countries in the report. Ms. Alberto noted as well that NCEMA’s recent efforts in responding to various emergencies and disasters were notable, more precisely in the media response system and the mechanism for dealing with the early warning system. The two parties also stressed the importance of working hand in hand to deal with the challenges that may arise when dealing with various global threats and challenges.
