NCEMA celebrates International Day of Happiness Thursday, March 21, 2019 The National Authority for Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management (NCEMA) has organized a number of events at the authority’s headquarters to celebrate the International Day of Happiness. The celebration was meant to spreading happiness and a positive spirit among its employees by reviewing 2018 Happiness Initiatives. Also as part of the celebration, a lecture entitled “human and world” was delivered by family and legal counselor Maha Balushi. When the world celebrates happiness on the 20th of March every year, we in UAE – being a usual initiator of achieving standard records – set up a goal to make the country amongst the top five happiest countries in the world by 2021, Director General of NCEMA Jamal Mohamed Al Hosani said. Since then, UAE has embarked on comprehensive government and community plans and programs to achieve this goal, he added. Al Hosani said that the UAE believes that happiness is a guaranteed right for all citizens, residents and even visitors, thus, the wise leaders of UAE appointed first happiness minister in the world, adopted a national charter aiming at promote the UAE's global leadership in this field and launched a group of initiatives to enhance happiness and welfare of the people in UAE. The UAE efforts was reflected in the country’s rank in the World Happiness Report, he said, pointing out that UAE was ranked first in the Arab region in the World Happiness Report for the fifth consecutive year. Al Hosani added that the UAE's efforts are not limited to achieving happiness for its citizens, residents and visitors, stressing that the UAE efforts spread all over the world in order to alleviate the suffering of thousands of people living in poverty and harsh conditions in poor cities or areas of conflict. At the end of celebration, NCEMA Deputy Director General Saif Mohammed Rahma Al Shamsi honored Balushi for delivering such valuable lecture.
