The National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority celebrates Flag Day.

In light of the directions of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority celebrated Flag Day at its headquarters in Abu Dhabi. Sheikh Al Maktoum called on Emirati citizens to raise the national flag at 11:00 am on 1st November in all institutions, ministries and state headquarters.

His Excellency Saif Al Shamsi, Deputy Director General of the Authority raised the flag in the presence of the Authority’s department managers and employees. The national anthem was played amid an atmosphere of joy, belonging and allegiance to the nation and its leadership. On this occasion signifying the unity of the Emirati people and their pride in their homeland and wise leadership, His Excellency Dr. Jamal Mohamed Al Hosani, Director General of the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority, delivered a speech in which he stressed that the flag is a sign of the state’s honor and sovereignty. It is a flag of peace and safety under which a homogeneous society of different nationalities, cultures and faiths lives without anyone feeling distanced or left out. It is a flag flying high in the sky representing the aspirations of an ambitious people and a future full of hope and optimism. This bright future will be created at the hands of this nation’s energetic youth and will be paved by its sincere leadership, which has been true to its people. The flag is exactly as was described by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice-President of the State, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, when he said “the UAE flag is not a drawing or a colored piece of cloth. It is a heart beating in our chests and we will sacrifice our blood, souls and children to defend it”.The nation has lost its dearest sons and most valuable capabilities for this flag to remain high. Our beloved sons are great wherever mentioned. We are proud of them and may God bless their souls. Raise our flag high. Flag Day this year has a special memory in our hearts. It comes at the end of the “Year of Zayed”, which is the year marking the hundredth anniversary of the birth of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, may he rest in peace. He was the first person to raise the federal flag on this land announcing the birth of a new independent and sovereign state. The state’s flag has remained a sign of its identity and sublimity and represents a strong and proud nation. May the values and lessons of the first leader remain strong in the hearts of his children. And may we be guided by his wisdom in times of crisis and hardship.  Flag Day has become a dear occasion for us due to its high status. It renews our values of allegiance and belonging to our homeland and its wise leadership. On this day, we promise to work sincerely and raise our flag high for the dignity and prosperity of our nation. We remain adherent to the identity, culture and values we draw from our routes. We are planted in the soil of this country, which we sacrifice everything precious for. On this day, we express our love and sincerity for our country in which we grew and learned values of tolerance, love, respect, peace and co-existence. Our homeland gave us all that is good and drives us constantly to all good. This is also a day that embodies the size of achievements and development accomplished by our beloved state through the efforts of its citizens and their unending service to their country under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE. This development has placed the UAE at the top of many economic and social indexes. The UAE has become one of the best models sought by other peoples and nations and many of the world’s youth dream to have the opportunity to live in it.Our state has achieved leading positions in indexes of global competitiveness, sustainable development, enhancement of its safety and security system and stability and prosperity.  We are now building the country according to the 2021 national agenda. To conclude, I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to everyone who has contributed to the rise, glory and prosperity of this country and to everyone who has worked with effort and sincerity so that the Emirati citizen can enjoy a highly dignified and respected position among the peoples of the world. I thank all those who sacrificed their comfort and life for the dignity of this country. I pray to God that this day will always be a day of dignity, progress and growth in all fields for the Emirati people under our flag flying high.
