Year of Innovate

In line with the instructions of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and under umbrella of the National Innovation Strategy, launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, aimed at making the UAE one of the most innovative countries in the world by 2021; the National Emergency, Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) has been promoting and encouraging innovation among employees to create a strong competition in providing the best practices along the development process to come up with solutions that would meet the challenges ahead and enable the community to cope successfully in crisis and disaster management.

NCEMA has organized several events, including a workshop entitled "UAE Innovation Week", as part of an integrated system aimed at consolidating the innovation strategy adopted by the UAE and launched through a 7 year comprehensive national innovation strategy to bring the United Arab Emirates to be among the top world countries in innovation and to contribute to the realization of the UAE Vision 2021.

In line with the Innovation Initiative, the Innovation Committee was formed. The committee aims at designing a system that will serve as a connecting point between employees and decision makers to express opinions and put forth innovative and creative ideas that may contribute to the continuous development and improvement.

The Innovation Committee has visited various NCEMA departments and carried out introduction workshops on the Innovation Committee, aiming at spreading the culture of creativity and innovation among NCEMA employees, and to strengthen their concept of creativity and innovation to encourage and motivate positive response by employees by suggesting and presenting innovative ideas that would contribute to the continuous development and improvement process at NCEMA and the realization of the Commission's vision of excellence in introducing creative ideas emanating from the National Innovation Strategy.
